At the beginning of this week, we got to sit through a Faculty Senate meeting at our PDS. It was very interesting to me to be able to hear what the teachers and administrators are concerned about. It was surprizing to me that there were so many disagreements and misunderstandings between the teachers themselves and between the teahers and the administration. The biggest topic of these two hours seemed to be the destiny of the fall party. Was it happening or not happpening? After a lengthy discussion, it was decided that there could be a fall party if the parents decided to stick to a very strict food list. All teachers were not happy with this decision. The biggest lesson that I learned from this meeting, as an outsider looking in, was that the administration cannot please all the teachers at any one given time. There has to be a lot of flexability, not only in each individual classroom, but also within the school structure itself.
